Our Vision, Our MissionOur Vision is a world in which babies are not infected with HIV
and where mothers with HIV/AIDS live long and healthy lives, caring for
their families and having hope for the future. Our HistoryFounded by Dr. Mitchell Besser in 2001, mothers2mothers
has developed from a single support group in Cape Town to a
multinational NGO with over 500 sites in seven countries in sub-Saharan
Africa. Staff and Structurem2m day-to-day activity and functioning is overseen by a leadership team of 10 based in head office in Cape Town. In each country where m2m is active, a country manager is responsible for overseeing program activities. Additionally, a team of National Trainers contribute to the further development of field staff. Our Board m2m’s Board is composed of 11 very diverse members, from a vast array of backgrounds from corporate to public health. The board’s primary roles are those of accountability and leadership, which include fiduciary, legal and executive oversight, as well as advisory and strategic responsibilities, and fundraising assistance. m2m recently announced the formation of mothers2mothers International, the new governing body of the organization.
