Judy Gluckstern has been involved as a development, planning, and executive committee member of Dance Theater Workshop in New York and just recently stepped down from board service on the national board of GLAAD (the Gay and Lesbian Alliance Against Defamation); she was the founding president of a New York state public school district education foundation and is a trustee of the Michael Palm Foundation.
Judy has worked as a teacher of poetry and calligraphy in an alternative middle school in Scarsdale, NY; a 3rd grade teacher at The Community School, an international school in Tehran, Iran; a publications designer for the Near East/South Asia Council of Overseas Schools in Athens, Greece; a graphic designer for the architecture firm of Skidmore, Owings & Merrill in Washington, D.C.; a book designer for Addison Wesley Publishing in Menlo Park, CA; and has done various freelance projects in design, calligraphy and lettering. She has a BA in Studio Art and English from Smith College. She and Steven Gluckstern have two children: Sarah, 28 and living in San Francisco, and JD, 23 and living in Brooklyn.
