Steven Gluckstern is an entrepreneur and philanthropist who has served on numerous Boards and advisory committees. With a B.A. from Amherst College and an Ed.D. from the University of Massachusetts, Steven began his professional career in education, holding teaching and administrative positions in both the US and overseas. He was the Superintendent of Schools in Telluride, Colorado, when he decided to switch careers. After earning an M.B.A. from Stanford where he was an Arjay Miller Scholar, Steven went into the Finance and Insurance field, at one point working for Warren Buffet where he ran Berkshire Hathaway’s Reinsurance activities. In 1988, he and his friend and colleague Michael Palm launched Centre Re, a reinsurance venture based on a radically new approach to the business that has since become an industry standard. In 1993 Centre Re was acquired by the Zurich Financial Group, one of the world’s largest financial institutions, and Steven went on to serve as a senior financial/investment officer and Group Executive Board member through 2001. Steven currently runs Ivivi Health Sciences, a medical technology firm focused on the development of non-invasive electrotherapies. He lives in San Francisco, is married to Judy Gluckstern (currently CO-Chair of the Board of m2m International), and has two grown children, Sarah and JD. |
