Global Strategy for Women’s, Children’s, and Adolescents’ Health

Busesa HC-IV_115-cropOn 26 September, UN Secretary General Ban Ki-moon announced more than $25 billion in initial commitments to help end preventable deaths of women, children, and adolescents by 2030, and ensure their health and wellbeing. The commitments were made by more than 100 organisations, including mothers2mothers (m2m), and over 40 countries.
“The Global Strategy for Women’s, Children’s, and Adolescents’ Health, which I am proud to launch today, will help to build resilient and healthy societies. We have shown that our partnership can yield concrete results. I, and the entire UN system, remain dedicated to saving and improving the lives of the most vulnerable amongst us,” said Mr. Ban Ki-moon.
m2m’s committment to improve the health and wellbeing of mothers, children, and adolescents through our Mentor Mother programme:
m2m commits to implementing our proven Mentor Mother Model to eliminate paediatric AIDS and improve the health and wellbeing of women, children, and families. m2m will continue to enhance the quality and capacity of overburdened healthcare by unlocking the potential of women through education, employment, and support. m2m will look for opportunities to integrate our model to better serve children and adolescents; keeping mothers at the forefront, as a healthy generation starts with mothers. m2m is committed to improving linkages between clinics and communities to promote early presentations, retention in care, and adherence to treatment. The programme will reach 832,000 pregnant women (HIV positive and negative) assuming 300 middle-to-high volume operational sites for 2016 and 2017 as the basis for calculating total client numbers enrolled in the programme.
