| Sir Elton John Visits Site B |

Legendary Grammy award-winner, singer/songwriter and entertainer Sir Elton John visited one of m2m’s sites, with a view for the Elton John AIDS Foundation to help fund m2m activity.
One of the most anticipated visits this year, mothers2mothers was honoured to host acclaimed superstar and singing legend Sir Elton John and his partner David Furnish, on a visit to Site B, at one of the m2m sites in Khayelitsha, on Monday 14 January 2007. Representing the Elton John AIDS Foundation (EJAF), Sir Elton received a warm welcoming speech from m2m Founder Dr Mitch Besser, just outside the mothers2mothers room at the healthcare facility. Popular for his chart-busting timeless hits, Sir Elton established the Elton John AIDS Foundation in 1992. EJAF is a nonprofit organisation that supports innovative HIV/ADS prevention and education programs, and those that provide direct care and auxiliary support services to people living with HIV/AIDS. Since its inception, the Foundation has raised well over $125 million in support of programs in 55 countries across the globe. EJAF raises funds through proceeds gained during special events, HIV/AIDS-affiliated initiatives, and private contributions from individuals, companies and foundations. With very little paparazzi lurking at the site, mothers2mothers took some shots of Sir Elton and David with some of the mothers behind the m2m program. Click here to see our gallery. |
