mothers2mothers International Board President, Non-Voting Member Gene Falk is the Co-founder and Executive Director of mothers2mothers. Gene initially served as the Chair of m2m’s Board of Directors in the US. In June of 2005 Gene left a career at Showtime and Viacom, and moved to Cape Town with his partner, Tim Savin, to oversee the rollout and expansion of m2m’s innovative operating model, which has been a key to its rapid growth and success.
While overseeing the development of numerous new business ventures at Viacom, Gene was simultaneously a passionate advocate and activist in the battle against HIV/AIDS, working with organizations including TAG (Treatment Action Group), Gay Men’s Health Crisis (GMHC) and chairing the board of directors of The Gay and Lesbian Alliance Against Defamation (GLAAD). He helped develop Viacom’s international effort to combat HIV, “KnowAIDS,” and was instrumental in establishing the Michael Palm Foundation, one of the earliest sources of major private funding for HIV/AIDS services. Gene holds a BA cum laude, from Williams College in Massachusetts, USA, and an MBA from the Wharton School of the University of Pennsylvania. |
