Marie Matthews was mothers2mothers very first funder and is mothers2mothers most ardent supporter. Marie is actively involved in many projects and also serves on the Boards of the Lymphoma Research Foundation, the Library Advisory Committee at University of California, the McCosh Infirmary Board at Princeton, the Cornerhouse board for Adolescent Alcohol & Drug Abuse, the Breast Center Resource Center at the Princeton YWCA, and is an active Committee Member at the Celiac Foundation. Marie graduated from University of California, Berkeley and received her Masters in Education from Goucher College. She lives in Princeton, has four children, 11 grandchildren and is married to Ed Matthews, the senior vice president and director of C.V. Starr & Co, and director of Starr International, affiliated with AIG.

At least 12 million children in sub-Saharan Africa have lost their parents or caregivers to AIDS-related illnesses. mothers2mothers provides the knowledge, support and hope required for preserving a mother's health so she can live to raise her child.

More than 95% of the mothers in our program are tested for HIV vs. a national average of 20%. Nearly all of them give birth to HIV-negative children.
