mothers2mothers International Board Director Steven Gluckstern is a financial executive, entrepreneur and philanthropist who serves on numerous Boards and advisory committees, and is currently on the Board Trustees of Amherst College where he serves as Chairman of the Budget and Finance Committee. With a BA from Amherst and EdD from the School of Education, University of Massachusetts, Steven started his career in education, holding teaching positions in the US and overseas. He was the Superintendent of schools in Telluride, Colorado, when he decided to switch careers.
After earning an MBA from Stanford, Steven went into the field of finance, at one point working for famous financier Warren Buffett. In 1988, he and his friend and colleague Michael Palm launched Centre Re, a reinsurance venture based on a radically new approach to the business that has since become an industry standard. Centre Re was subsequently acquired by the Zurich Companies, one of the world’s largest financial institutions, and Steven went on to serve as its senior financial and investment officer. He currently runs Ivivi Technologies, a medical technology firm focused on the development of non-invasive electrotherapies. He lives in New York City, is married to Judy Gluckstern and has two children, Sarah and JD. |
