Victoria Beckham Joins m2m to Eliminate Paediatric AIDS

m2m5WEBSITEmothers2mothers (m2m) was overwhelmed to find out that Victoria Beckham had chosen to sell more than 600 iconic pieces of her wardrobe to benefit m2m and our work in sub-Saharan Africa. The highly anticipated private online sale begins tomorrow on THE OUTNET.COM and has been generating media buzz for weeks. In order to participate, click here to register on THE OUTNET.COM by Wednesday, August 20th.
We had the pleasure of meeting Victoria in February when she visited our sites in Cape Town and spent time with some of the amazing Mentor Mothers we employ. “I was so touched by the people I met and how focused and empowered the Mentor Mothers were — literally, I have never met such strong women in my entire life. The work they are doing is nothing short of absolutely remarkable,” she said.
When Victoria returned home, she was determined to do all she could to raise money and awareness, and felt the sale of treasured items from her wardrobe could be an incredibly powerful way to do just that. “Whoever you are, wherever you’re from, whatever your financial or health status, you are still a woman and you are still a mother and we have a responsibility to support each other. There is always that connection. I certainly felt it,” she explained.
With the help of her mother and her sister, she went through her wardrobe and her memories, selecting 600 iconic pieces representing a lifetime of highlights, from Spice Girls performances and her courtship with David Beckham to catwalk appearances, glamorous parties and award show appearances. “Well, I’ve come a long way in fashion!,” she said. “When I went through the clothes, I laughed and I cried. This is a celebration of the past, everything I’ve achieved and the amazing people who have come on that journey with me. It’s a moment to say here’s to the future and let’s laugh at some of the past,” she added.
“We are honoured and extremely grateful to Victoria Beckham and THE OUTNET.COM for their very generous support of mothers2mothers. The funds that are raised will help mothers2mothers’ Mentor Mothers reach even more HIV-positive mothers with critical health education and support, to stay healthy and protect their babies from HIV infection. …I’m sure everyone will have lots of fun shopping such a fashion treasure trove, and we’d like to thank those who do for joining us to eliminate HIV/AIDS in children and keep their mothers alive,” said m2m Founder Dr. Mitch Besser.
The sale has generated a tremendous amount of coverage in the international press with more than 400 articles in 20 countries. Additionally, we have reached more than 13 million people on m2m’s social media platforms alone.
With 100% of the proceeds going to m2m, we hope you will join the Victoria Beckham fans and collectors who are waiting with great anticipation for Wednesday morning in the UK when the sale begins and have fun shopping!
