On 9 November 2016, mothers2mothers held their 15 Years of Wonder Women event at Annabel’s in the heart of London. Guests enjoyed an evening of dinner and dancing alongside an intimate performance by artist Sophie Ellis-Bextor. The evening celebrated the past 15 years of mothers2mothers, with a special focus on the Wonder Women who reach thousands of women and families every single day: m2m Mentor Mothers.

Close to 100 health professionals attended two events hosted by m2m co-chair of the Every Child Deserves a Birthday campaign, Dr. Barbara Loeb, for an afternoon and evening of conversation and refreshments. Mentor Mother Viwe Khumalo from South Africa shared her inspiring story and guests were invited to donate their birthday to m2m through the birthday campaign.

The Ron Robinson flagship store in Santa Monica, California, recognised World AIDS Day and #GivingTuesday with a star-studded lifestyle event benefitting mothers2mothers. Featuring 13 local designers and attended by supermodel Cindy Crawford and Academy Award-winning producer Brian Grazer, RonRobinson donated 20% of proceeds of both the online and in-store shopping. Pre-holiday shoppers snatched up everything from Apothia perfumes to Nixon watches, while also enjoying music by DJ Sandra Luesse, wines from ONEHOPE Wine, and delectables from Green Truck. It was a ho-ho-happy good time!

Spaghettini

Following the RonRobinson shopping event, it was standing room only at Beverly Hills hotspot, Spaghettini and the Dave Koz Lounge. Guests enjoyed captivating craft cocktails and handmade pastas while grooving to the live music and learning about m2m. Every bite saved lives through the generosity of restaurant owners, Debbie and Glen Bickerstaff, as 100% of the proceeds went to benefit m2m’s lifesaving programmes.

Laure Heriard-Dbureuil, CEO and Founding Partner of The Webster, South Beach Miami’s exclusive luxury boutique, met with a Mentor Mother and toured a m2m site in Cape Town during a trip to South Africa this past fall. That visit inspired her to find ways to support m2m and its mission to eliminate mother-to-child transmission of HIV. As a new mother herself, she decided that she could have a significant impact by recognising m2m on World AIDS Day at her Miami stores. On this special day, she generously donated 10% of all the proceeds from her stores, totaling over $10,000 towards m2m’s lifesaving work.

Activist, singer, songwriter Annie Lennox hosted and performed at the 15th anniversary celebration of mothers2mothers, the charity’s third major London fundraiser held on 3 November 2015 at the stunning venue, One Marylebone. Guests enjoyed a drinks reception followed by a relaxed sit down dinner and silent auction. The event is attracted an audience of over 200 supporters from the U.K., Europe, and the U.S., and built on the success of previous events hosted by Annie Lennox in 2011 and 2013. The evening’s headline supporters include Universal Music and MAC Cosmetics (www.maccosmetics.co.uk) and Gucci supported the drinks reception.

Art Auction

Guests enjoyed an evening of art, empowerment, and inspiration at our Silent Art Auction. Over 30 donated works of art were bid on with 100% of the proceeds benefitting m2m. Guests also met the artists, and savored food and cocktails.

Best of all, mothers2mothers brought in one of our incredible HIV-positive Mentor Mothers from Uganda for her first U.S. visit. Juliet was the youngest of her husband’s three wives when she found out she was both pregnant and HIV-positive.

Over 300 guests enjoyed a private preview of the city’s first rooftop bar, Rooftop °42, before it’s official opening.  The phrase ‘the more fun you have, the more good you do’ certainly caputures the electric and vivacious vibe of the event, where stunning panoramic views, cocktails, merriment and music were enjoyed late into the night. All proceeds from the evening were donated to mothers2mothers, with tickets alone generating over £13,000!

We were joined for an exceptional evening in ‘Feathers and Leathers’ at Morton’s Club on Berkeley Square in Mayfair. Guests enjoyed cocktails and bowl food by world renowned Michelin star Chef Yvonick Lalle, followed by dancing and a raffle, where one lucky guest won a year’s full membership to Morton’s, generously donated by the Club. Not only was the event held in the best that London Private Members clubs have to offer, but all the tickets and generous donations given on the evening enable m2m to deepen its impact at existing sites and expand its programme to more countries.

Annie Lennox celebrated mothers2mothers reaching over one million mothers with an intimate performance at One Marylebone in partnership with GUCCI as the Headline Sponsor. The evening was hosted by the internationally acclaimed actor Richard E. Grant, and successful author, broadcaster, and businesswoman Muriel Gray. Bonham’s auctioneer Charlie Thomas electrified the room auctioning off two limited edition GUCCI handbags as well as handwritten lyrics generously donated by Chris Martin, Bono, Sting, Peter Gabriel, and Annie Lennox herself. The evening was a tremendous success, raising over £340,000 which will be used to expand mothers2mothers groundbreaking Mentor Mother programme across sub-Saharan Africa.
