2016 sees the 15th anniversary of mothers2mothers and to mark this important milestone mothers2mothers Malawi was the host m2m country for our second Cycle to Zero! This May, the team rode for 4 days through Malawi from the lush Tea Plantations of the Southern Highlands of Conforzi to the heights of the astounding Zomba Plateau, finishing the ride along the beautiful shoreline of Lake Malawi at Cape Maclear, a UNESCO World Heritage Site. The team had the unique opportunity to visit m2m projects along the way and met some of the incredible people that make the organisation tick!

Cycle to Zero Malawi 2016

2016 sees the 15th anniversary of mothers2mothers. To mark this milestone and to celebrate reaching over 1.3 million women, mothers2mothers Malawi was the host m2m country for our second ‘Cycle to Zero’ Challenge Event. Cycle to Zero 2016 took participants on a journey riding from Bvumbwe through the lush tea plantations of Conforzi, to the astounding Zomba Plateau finishing the ride along the beautiful shoreline of Lake Malawi ending at UNESCO World Heritage Site, Cape Maclear. Throughout the 4 days, cyclists visited m2m projects by bike and met some of the incredible people that make the organisation tick!

Meet the Buddies!

To celebrate the inaugural Cycle to Zero Challenge, we are offering a few coveted places for m2m staff through our buddy scheme! The buddy scheme gives 4 m2m staff members from South Africa and Malawi the opportunity to participate in the Cycle to Zero event on behalf of m2m supporters worldwide who cannot take part in this year’s ride but are still keen to be involved or donate in some way to the Challenge.
Does this cycle challenge ignite your inner adrenalin junkie or perhaps appeal to your colleague sitting at the computer opposite? Well then, listen up; we are offering 5 coveted Cycle to Zero places for m2m staff participation. We are launching an m2m buddy scheme, whereby an individual unable to take part in the challenge but still wishing to be involved, nominate YOU to ride in their place. They will cover the minimum sponsorship fee, all you have to do is get on your bike and share your experiences. Simply click here in order to download an information sheet and then email samina.hassan@m2m.org to register your interest - stay tuned for the announcement of the winners!

Sponsorship Opportunities

While the one day ‘Pick n Pay Argus’ is currently South Africa’s main charity cycle ride, there is currently no challenge like Cycle to Zero combining direct access to projects whilst fundraising to support the charity. For this reason, we aim to grow year on year to become a key event in the charity calendar, opening the event up in 2015 to corporate teams as well as individuals from Europe, North America and Africa. As an inaugural supporter of Cycle to Zero, you have the opportunity to come on this amazing journey with mothers2mothers this year and in years to come.
