Ellen Peck Joins m2m as North America Director

Ellen PeckWe are pleased to announce that mothers2mothers (m2m) has appointed Ellen Peck as our North America Director. In this role, Ellen is responsible for stewarding the m2m brand with North American private sector and philanthropic partners and raising funds to support the continued expansion of our programme across Southern and Eastern Africa. She is overseeing U.S. operations and is based in New York City where she will build a team to work with her on resource mobilisation.

Ellen brings more than 25 years of development and programmatic experience to this role. She spent 18 of those years with Save the Children as Director of Resource Development, where she raised over $50 million in private and corporate funds and leveraged millions more in government, corporate, and foundation support. In addition to providing fundraising strategy, planning, and leadership to the development and senior management teams, Ellen worked collaboratively across the organisation to launch key new programme initiatives and campaigns, such as Save’s international crisis preparedness and response programme, and the first school health initiative in Africa.

“We are delighted to have Ellen join our team. Her extensive experience will be invaluable as we continue to expand our programme in both scale and scope, to provide family-centred support for a range of related health and social issues spanning pregnancy, birth, childhood, and adolescence across Southern and Eastern Africa,” said Emma France, Global Development and Strategic Engagement Director, to whom Ellen will report.

After her tenure at Save the Children, Ellen served as a consultant and advisor to numerous organisations, ranging from an international coalition to end forced labor in the international cotton industry, to a successful campaign leveraging private/public funding and legal action to restore and protect her beloved Long Island Sound, a critical ecosystem on the U.S. Atlantic seaboard. She has also produced several documentaries, including the Academy Award-winning Born into Brothels.

“I am absolutely thrilled to be joining m2m to advance the important mission to end paediatric AIDS and bring health and hope to families and communities,” added Ellen. “I very much look forward to getting to know m2m’s incredible partners in North America, whose support has been critical to the expansion of our Mentor Mother Model across the African continent, and to cultivating more partnerships so that m2m can reach even more women and families with a growing range of services.”

Ellen is assuming responsibilities previously held by m2m Co-founder Robin Smalley, who has headed up our operations in the U.S. for the past 13 years. After playing a pivotal role in expanding m2m’s funding base in North America and developing key global partnerships, Robin is applying her extensive knowledge and limitless passion as m2m’s Chief Connector. Based in Los Angeles, she will develop special projects as well as continue to support fundraising, partnership development, advocacy, and programme strategy.
